Hi! This house is a refreshing and beautiful place to live in Southwest Portland - walking distance from "The Canyon Grill" where you can hop on Bus 58 and get straight to PSU / downtown Portland. 14-minute drive from OHSU, via the beautiful winding hilly neighborhoods. There's fabulous shopping closeby in downtown Beaverton, accessible by bus.
No pets or animals, non-smokers only, no incense, no drugs (alcohol is fine), please keep scented items to a minimum 🙂
Enjoy the fresh air in the woods, owls and deer and bunnies, and free parking (driveway and street).
We are substitute teachers, a nanny, a Masters student in counseling at George Fox, a doctoral student in addiction at OHSU, and a veterinary technician. I sublet to the other girls, who range in age from 23 to 34 (I'm 43). Some girls are Christian / some girls are not religious. Everyone's super sweet and easy to get along with. 🙂 I've been here for almost 7 years - still loving it!
House vibe is "chill and functional" - people using the common spaces as needed - someone's brewing their morning coffee while someone else is studying or working at the table, and everyone gets what they need. 🙂 People are mostly off doing their own thing, but it's fun to chat if you're cooking your dinner at the same time as someone else. No house meetings or planned group dinners - life is already busy enough! Nice place to have a friend or two over.
Bedroom: Located on the main floor (one door leads to kitchen, another door goes to back hallway for quick access to the bathroom). High ceilings, wood floors, sunny view of serene back yard, babbling brook under your window. Unfurnished, but I have a twin bed available. Share a bathroom with one other girl (other roommates are upstairs).
Included in rent: all utilities, strong wifi, toilet paper, paper towels, stove-side condiments, some baking supplies, hand soap, dish soap, ziplock bags, light bulbs, matches, and many other household items.
Move-in costs: $500 Deposit refundable upon move-out minus damages or cleaning charges (most people get the whole thing back).
Agreement: I operate on a 30-day-notice open-ended agreement. You don't have to commit to a certain number of months, but longer-term is nicer. Simply move in, and if down the road there needs to be a change, then you or I can initiate a 30-day notice of you moving out, without having to specify a reason, and you just owe rent for 30 more days (even if you move out sooner) while I use that time to find another occupant. Notice can be given any time of the month - you don't have to wait till the end of the month. I'm also happy to serve as a reference for your future rental needs.
I collect rent on the 25th of the previous month. For example, I collect June rent on May 25th.
Chores are an expectation (kitchen, bathroom, floors, etc...). I have a system already in place for how to help out - thank you ahead of time for pitching in! 🙂
