Salmon Feeding
I am a recreational musher who runs about 10-15 miles runs and need to know if and how much fish/meat/protien source I should feed my dogs. Also before they run or after they run. I am interested in increasing their milage and want to know how much to increase with how long they run. |

Hi Ashley, your question is loaded and can have a diferent answer from everyone who answers it. The funny thing is ever answer could be right or wrong because each dog is different in their nutritional requirements. If you do not increase your milage too dramatically a top quality dog food like Eagle Power or Redpaw will do fine, not that the dogs wouldn't like a salmon treat as a reward for a job well done. As far as adding mileage be careful with the temperature and humidity to avoid overheating many pros actually carry a thermometer to check the dogs temp. Conditioning is also important, small increases to mileage is the safest way to prevent problems. Mike |
