My stand on Gay marriage

As defined by law and religious beliefs marriage is a union between a man and a woman. When two people love each other regardless of sexual orientation a word should not matter when they wish to legally and publically express that love and commitment for each other. Keeping within the law and individual beleifs I beleive that people who are gay should be allowed to join legally in a Civil Union and that they should be allowed to the same rights and benefits as a traditionally married couple. Civil Unions for people who have same sex orientation protects the sensibilities, religious beleifs and legal requirements.

The bottom line is this.... Love is a beautiful thing and should always be nurtured and cherished. No one group should try to cram their beleives down each others throat. To move ahead there must be some give and take on both sides and a more live and let live attitude would be a great place to start.

Re: Gay marriage

Thank you.

I agree, except for one thing. Bringing religion into a marriage is a choice made by each individual couple, but in and of itself, marriage is just a contract.

In my opinion, calling any legally joined couple a "Civil Union" instead of a married couple is no different than the segregation of races in the 50's. Seperate but equal is not really equal, if you think about it. Back in the 50's, whites and blacks had seperate but equal schools, which was nothing but discrimination, plain and simple.

In short, marriage is a legal contract between two people, and nothing more. Making it a religious matter is a personal issue, and should have nothing to do with the marriage contract itself.
