Novelty Songs

I don't have much to give you to go on, but maybe someone can help. I need to know who sang "Igmu" (?) and who sang "Little Bad Dan", which is a song about a kid who ran and ran and made a touchdown----for the other team, running the wrong way. One of these songs contains the words "the pride of Central High". I also would like to know the name of the song that plays on the Himilayan ride at the carnivals. Any help will be appreciated and I will try to reciprocate if possible. Thanks so much!!!

Re: Novelty Songs

Hi Gail

Ok - the first one is Igmoo (The Pride of Central High) by Stonewall Jackson

Igmoo! Igmoo! we love Igmoo!

With his jeans swung low
Hangin' on his hips
Last night's lipstick still upon his lips
Who makes the girls all do backover flips
Igmoo the pride, of South Central High
It's the morning class looking like a 'rangutan
Twelve minutes after the last bell has rang
The girls all sigh, "ain't he the cutest thing?"
Igmoo the pride, of South Central High

Then it's Saturday's big game
When the band begins to play
And the scores are all the same
Who's the guy that saves the day? (Igmoo!)
With his football suit hanging on his hips
Last night's lipstick still upon his lips
Who makes the girls all do backover flips
Igmoo, the pride of South Central High

I'll look for the others

Re: Novelty Songs

ok - "Little Bad Dan" is by Don Bowman, but I can't find the lyrics for you.

Not sure about the carnival ride one as most carnivals use whatever music they want, but I'll look.

Re: Novelty Songs

My goodness you really wanted these songs LOL! I've seen you posted them all over Yahoo. Well, glad you finally found the right place

I haven't found any info about the carnival ride, so I have emailed a carnival company and asked them about it. I'll post here again once I have an answer from them.

Thanks

Yes, they are for my special friend. I want to try to find the 45s too. Getting ready for a very wonderful Christmas. I so appreciate your help. I probably didn't know I was posting so much. Very new to this. Thanks again Raven.

Re: Novelty Songs

That's nice Gail :)

Here's a link to an eBay search for Don Bowman. You may or may not find the right record there. If you see a seller with a really good rep who seems to have a large collection, take a chance and email them. See if they can find a copy for you.

Re: Novelty Songs

Ok - here you go Gail - I found a site that is selling a 45 that has Don Bowman doing a version of Igmoo and Little Bad Dan on the same 45 for sale for only $5.

http://www.rezoundrekordz.com/sevens/b1.html

I don't normally track down things for sale for people (so those of you reading this, please know that this is the exception, not the rule), but since I'm waiting for something large to upload right now, I'm killing time by searching for you.

Hope this helps :)

Re: Novelty Songs

Hi Gail-

I just got a response from the carnoval company. They said all rides are manufactured to allow the individual operators to select the music they feel will best attract customers.

If you have any more info about the song I can see if I can try to find it.

Thanks

Raven
