Song title

Hi, I'm looking for a song that was popular (played on radio) during the early to mid seventies (at least in Australia)

I have no idea what it is/was called apart from the obvious line in the chorus, but cannot find it on the net!

The words I remember are;

(chorus)

'Well hello, well hello, fancy meeting you here,
Lovely to see you, sit anywhere,
well hello, well hello ******* lovely to see you again'

??

the only other phrase i can remember is

'Will she ever meet the boy whose turn it is to say'

followed by chorus again.

There is a song called 'fancy meeting you here' by Buddy England/The Mixtures but it is not that one.

Thanks, as this has been knocking me out for a while.

Re: Song title

Hi Andy-

I've found a few songs with some of the lyrics, but none with all of those lyrics.

I did find a song that was a UK hit in 1976, Fancy Meeting You Here by Saffron Summerfield.

Unfotunately, I can't find lyrics or a sound clip for this song.

Was is a male, female or group that sang it?

Thanks
Raven

Re: Song title

Thankyou for the super prompt reply! That's terrific. The singer was a male, but I'm not sure if he was solo or frontman for a group.

The song was a ballad, btw.

Thanks again for the information, I'll do some more chasing. I've already bought one album thinking the song was on it only to find it wasnt the same one!

I'll try not to make same mistake again!

Thanks again & regards.

Re: Song title

Hi-

I'm still looking for you.

I checked the official Australian chart site. They don't have archival info available on the site, and their databases only go back as far as 1983 anyway.

I'll still keep looking though.

Re: Song title

Thanks,

I can't give any more information as I don't know of anything else.

It was definitely after 1970 and received airplay on radio in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

It could have originated in any country though.

Thanks for persisting!

Re: Song title

Hi,

I have been looking for that song (recognise the lyrics) since I heard it in Denmark in about 1976!

I belive it is by "Yellowstone & Voice" but I have not been able to find a copy of it anywhere. If you manage to locate it anywhere, please let me know & I will do the same for you.

(I would also be grateful if you would let me know if you have viewed this post)

Re: Song title

Thanks Dave & Raven.

You might just be right about this song. Info on net suggest it was '71 or '72 which would fit.

I can't find any lyrics though, let alone the song. It's as rare as the proverbial rocking horse ***.

If I find a copy in vinyl I'll let you know. There's no chance it's on cd or mp3.

cheers & thanks to both

Dave

Re: Song title

Having had my fuse lit... I've been doing some serious research. Here are the lyrics to "Well Hello" by Yellowstone & Voice (1972)

Well hello, well hello, fancy meeting you here
Lovely to see you, sit anywhere
Well hello, well hello, fancy meeting you here
Lovely to see you again

Every day she comes downstairs and drinks a cup of tea
Every day’s a dreary day or so it seems to be
Mother’s always moaning Father tends to bring her down
Brother with his snide remarks well he always plays around

There’s a boy at work who she would like to get to know
He doesn’t seem to notice maybe it’s because he’s slow
Some day she’s going to meet him, he’ll look at her and say
Well fancy meeting you here, tell me do you go my way

Well hello, well hello, fancy meeting you here
Lovely to see you, sit anywhere
Well hello, well hello, fancy meeting you here
Lovely to see you again

Every night she’s reading books about passionate love affairs
But she just can’t identify with what she reads in there
For every girl there is someone who will appear one day
Will she ever meet the boy who’s turn it is to say

Well hello, well hello, fancy meeting you here
Lovely to see you, sit anywhere
Well hello, well hello, fancy meeting you here
Lovely to see you again

If you want a copy of this record, there is one on sale on ebay here:

Isn't the internet wonderful?

Re: Song title

Thanks Dave - that's it!

I don't know why I couldn't find it, I put enough correct lyrics into a lot of search engines with no hits at all.

Thanks for ebay link, too.

I'll see how I go with bidding.

if I'm successful, I'll see how I go converting it!

thanks again.
