Romanian Thiefs operating in Velez Malaga
I know this happens all over Spain and we are all told to be careful, but please read this as it may help some day.
I went shopping at plus super market to get our bulk foods. My bag was in the trolley as the handle broke the day before, i had shopping covering it. I was approached by a romanian couple who were waving spanish torttilla in front of my face ad pointing at the shelf label. They were distracting me from another person nicking my bag.
I normally go shopping with my husband so he has the car keys in his pocket, but today i had the cars keys plus i carry the spare keys in my bag.
items lost both sets of car keys, passport, driving license card, makeup, mobile phone, credit cards, my husbands english bank card, 300 Euros in cash.
So the bill so far 300 euros cash, new keys are being sent from head office peugeot that will take 20 days and will cost approx 200 Euros, Replacement passport 185 Euros from madrid, driving license cost, 60 Euros grue to take car from supermarket to garage, new mobile pay as you go phone, make-up we all know how much that can cost. plus we will have to hire a car as we have 6 children and they will be going to school. So the cost will end about 1500 Euros.
Please be careful, apparently velez malaga is a known haunt for these people, i wish i knew before!

Hi all
We have just got our keys back from peugeot took them 12 days not bad as we were told 3 weeks. So we now have our car back. My wife is still very shaken and she can not go out shopping alone yet, in time yes. We have learnt from this and now shop at better locations. I wish i could get my hands on these people. I would punch there lights out!!

Hi sara
Sorry to hear your mis-fortune, There are so many nasty people who spend their day picking on easy targets. They are opportunists, nothing against you personally! ALWAYS MAKE SURE ALL VALUABLES ARE LOCKED AWAY, ID KEPT ON YOU IS CERTIFIED COPIES AND THE ORIGINALS ARE KEPT SAFE AT HOME.
I hope you have learnt from this, and have come to terms with it.

Re: Romanian Thiefs operating in Velez Malaga
hi all be warned! sorry hear about sarah. a similar thing happened to a customer of ours, he was approached by a "friendly" man in the car park who put his arm around him and spoke in a friendly manner and on the way home thought about it and realised his wallet had been taken from his pocket, this was in eroski car park in broad daylight. a friend of mine will not go anywhere near eroski unless she absolutely has to because places like that attract these unscrupulous people who come in all shapes and sizes and ALL nationalities.
it could happen to any one of us.
