getting certified
I have a lifeguard job lined up i just have to get certified and i think im going to do it at the YMCA but i was just curious to how many days it will take and how long the certification lasts?? o and this might be a dumb question but is it hard to get certified to like do alot of people try and not pass?? |

Hey Randi, I am not sure if you are just taking the course at the YMCA or if it is the YMCA lifeguard course. I am not certain of there course specifics. I teach American Red Cross and will simply say that the lifeguard course isn't overly demanding but it is challenging. If you can complete the preliminary water requirements, the rest of the skills you perform should be fun and informative. The course length will likely run you between 30 and 35 hours. Certification will be dependent on the agency. American Red Cross certs for lifeguard/1st aid are valid for 3 years and the CPR is valid for 1 year. Good luck, enjoy and keep us posted!! |
