mandrels

hi, finally got around to using the specialty mandrels for internal bails..i used the bead release i bought with it...coated it twice letting it dry between each application but couldn't get it out of the glass....any suggestions? thanks.

once the glass is cool you throw the thing in a bucket of water. Let it soak a few mins. Hold the mandrel with a pair of pliers and then spin the 'bead' around the mandrel.... it might be tight at first but keep working it and it will slide off.

thanks for the info...i also heard that toothpicks work well and since i'm just starting to do some work with internal bails again i think i'll try both...now if i could just get the glass to drill itself i'd be set....thanks again

The only thing with toothpicks is their diameter is pretty small. OK if you're stringing but if you want a chain to go thru maybe not so good.

i've always used thick fiber paper/blanket/rope except for the one shot w/the mandrel so haven't had a problem with the bail diameter but that's a good thing to keep in my mind...thanks eileen
