Pendant Query

Hi

Does anyone know how to achieve pendants which appear to have loads of wee bits fused within them. Think its done with a mold as they seem to fit so well. I did try cutting wee bits to fit last year and fully fused them. They sold well, but boy did they take a lot of work! Have got some pendant molds which I'm going to try. Will that work?

Re: Pendant Query

Hi Jude:

Can you describe the 'wee bits' a bit more? Not sure exactly what you mean.

Re: Pendant Query

Sorry! I seem to be having all these random questions. Its kind of hard to explain. It looks like it has tiny pieces of frit and glass fully fused within the piece. I can direct you to plenty of websites to illustrate?

Re: Pendant Query

Sorry for delay in getting back to you on this....

Yep, one such site is www.frizzygirl.co.uk If you look at the pendants in the shop section, forest glow, autumnal heart etc. It looks like loads of pieces, possibly using a mold?

Re: Pendant Query

Her work is very lovely. You can achieve similar results either by using a lot of 'wee bits' as you say in a mold (we sell quite a few molds for this) OR by making a rectangular piece and then cutting it with a taurus ring saw (for hearts and such). If you look at the notches in one of her teardrop shaped ones you can see that she used a taurus (or other brand) ring saw to cut those.

Hope that helps,
Nan

PS: DO try to come up with your own designs and develop your own style. (not saying you aren't just saying...)

Re: Pendant Query

Don't worry, originality is my name! I am just keen to develop my skill to the next level. Have just started using molds, decals etc & am starting to come up with some nice pieces, but being a bit of a perfectionist have a bit to go before I am happy with my end product! Thanks

Re: Pendant Query

I have a question. I am new to molds and do pendants also. I layer small pieces of color glass less than 1/2 inch square or rectangle and for the top layer I use clear. This can give the piece a lot of depth. Also depends on the color of glass you use. Try expermenting.
