laser glass cutting
I recently attended a craft show and there was a woman who had at least 1000 pieces of fused glass and the sets were so uniform that I complimented her on her ability and she said it is easy when you use a laser cutter. Well I have no clue what that is and where I could inquire about the use of one. She had so many different shapes because of using this cutter. If you could answer this I would appreciate it. Hello LeAnn: I don't believe the person you spoke to actually cuts them with a laser herself but farms them out to a company to do it for her. I don't know how much it costs..... it may also be that she buys her pieces already made and is just reselling (buy/sell) mass produced work from Mexico, China etc.....makes it even easier (LOL)..... A laser machine is VERY expensive and a complicated piece of technology for a glass artist to purchase and use themselves. If you want to cut shapes from your glass you might consider purchasing a Taurus Ring Saw; that's what I use to cut my Spirit Keys(tm) ... which are like puzzle pieces and fit together. I can't direct you to any companies that cut shapes for you as I have never really looked into it... Best, Nan |
