Hi Mr.Sokarno,
i totally agree with you and i have been a highly vocal person in fighting for recognition of our Nubian language and a standarized way of writing it down. Our language already has an alphabet, based on the greek and coptic one and i think that it is the most eligible one. I don't believe its hard to teach it to children since they too have to learn English eventually and English is different from Arabic. So i see NO reason whatsoever to adopt the Arabic alphabet when we have a ready alphabet that has been used by our ancestors for centuries and centuries. The Nubian alphabet based on the greek alphabet has already been modified by Nubians to represent certain letters not present in either greek or Arabic, so its only logical to use it. I also think that we should be focused on restoring our Nubian heritage and culture and brining up our children with a strong Nubian cultural/ethnic/political identity and adopting the Arabic alphabet i think would just undermine our efforts to stop our forced Arabization both in Sudan and Egypt. Our children should learn the Nubian language in the Nubian alphabet before they learn Arabic since Arabic is essentially foriegn to us and we aren't Arabs to begin with. Again i emphasize that what is standing in our way to teach Nubian to our children as a written, read and spoken language isn't the "unfamiliar" alphabet as children have a strong ability to learn new things at an early age. But the obstacle that is really standing in our way is the Arabic language and the racist Arabization policies adopted by countries such as Egypt and Sudan. These are the ones who are undermining our culture, marginalizing us and suppressing our language.
