An interesting note to my original post. According to IMDB The Fastest Gun Alive was originally released in the USA on July 12,1956. This is, to the day, its 52 anniversary. It was just shown and will be run again this evening at 10:30PM Central time. Cimarron, another Glenn favorite will air, on The Westerns Channel, in 1 hour. A good day for Glenn movies!!!

Thanks for the heads-up, Mike. It's another Ford favorite (though I can do without the Russ Tamblyn dance number). Glenn really prepared well for this role, actually duplicating the title. It was originally a TV play called "The Last Notch" with Jeff Morrow in Glenn's role, and frequent Ford co-star Richard Jaeckel as a young "Billy the Kid" type adversary. I wish he had been retained for the film version -- Broderick Crawford was really too old and urban and paunchy in the part.
