And don't let that get in the way! My teacher at my university plays both the solo version of Ravel's La Valse and the 2-piano version all the time, and is able to switch seamlessly between each, and both of those are also extremely difficult pieces.
You should do it! There are plenty of pieces just as difficult and much more difficult people slave over all the time, so I'm sure it's doable.
Plus, this is worth every bit of the difficulty. How does one get ahold of the score to look at?
