I have just been looking on the Kent Archealogical website and found lots of info about the local parishes - there was a record of an Austin in one of them...but rather than go through all the records again its enough to say theres a list of names at the end of each parish church set of info...i know i started with pluckley, and deal and walmer but cant remember the others but there definitely was an Austin record on one of the monuments.

I am looking for anyone knows of a Wood family who had a son Henry who came to New South Wales Australia in 1840. Henry was 20 years of age. His parents were Henry and Jane Wood. Jane's maiden name was Austen or Austin. Henry is a relative of my grandfather's. Henry was born in Deal Kent. I have found a Henry and Jemima Wood on an 1841 census, but not sure if these are Henry's grandparents. Henry has caused my cousin to hit a brick wall about his past as we cannot find anything about him except his arrival in Australia.
