Just read your write-up in liver today and was pleased to see someone else with high profile willing to tell his story.I was told in97 that I had contracted the virus.I sang and wrote music for a Southern Gospel Quartet and it gave me a platform to talk about it.I think I reached some young people but the nature of HCV only time will tell. The Doctor told me I probably had it for 20 years I was a 60's kid and used IV drugs.It would have been that long since I lived in that lifestlye so it makes sense. What I wanted to know is what is keeping people and the goverment from doing more (THE NIH IN PARTICULAR)funding is much lower than for any other major killer, .It is my understanding that this year the death toll from HCV will be far higher than aids.I have tried to put together fundraisers and raise awareness but have run into a wall everywhere.What can I do? I have a strong desire to help.
