Maidenhead Big Weekender festival set for July 19-20

A new event – the Maidenhead Big Weekender – is set to come to the town on July 19 and 20.

The ‘ultimate summer celebration’ of music, food and family fun is being introduced by the organisers of Fi.Fest (A&L Events), teaming up with Traylens Fun Fair.

The ‘fresh, affordable, and inclusive’ two-day festival is coming to Braywick Sports Ground for a Saturday and Sunday in July this year.

Maidenhead Big Weekender will see entertainment, family fun and food – and the organisers promise ‘something for everyone’.

Music-wise, tribute bands and talented local musicians are expected to bring everything from chart-topping anthems to fresh new sounds from the heart of Maidenhead.

The main stage will be ‘the beating heart’ of the Maidenhead Big Weekender, with something for rock and pop enthusiasts alike.

Dance groups and performers will also take to the stage, showcasing their skills.

Thrilling funfair rides for all ages are set to be a part of the weekend – such as the bumper cars, the haunted house, or some ‘big thrill rides.’

For younger festival-goers, there will be gentler rides to enjoy, as well as an inflatable fun zone where they can bounce, slide, and play.

A range of food stalls are expected, from gourmet burgers and loaded fries to wood-fired pizza and street food flavours. Sweet treats will be on offer too, many typical of a fairground atmosphere, with doughnuts, candy floss, waffles and more.

In addition, there will be a goods market featuring ‘one-of-a-kind treasures from talented independent traders’.

There will be arts and crafts pieces, handmade jewellery, home decor, plants and pocket-money toys for little ones.

A ‘chill-out zone’ is planned as well, with deckchairs and a sandy beach on which to unwind and recharge or simply soak up the atmosphere.

The festival will be a ticketed event with limited capacity to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Entry is £2 per person per day (under 3s go free) as a small contribution to help cover event costs.

Free tickets and fun fair passes will be distributed by the Borough to families facing financial hardship, making sure that everyone has the chance to enjoy the weekend.

To keep the event as affordable and accessible as possible, attendees are welcome to bring their own picnics and soft drinks into the festival.
