speaking of Felix

and I don't mean the hurricane...

Way Of The Groove finished the tour, and the guys went their own ways, Colin and Adam are in Florida, while Felix and Julius decided to stay on the road. Based out of Brooklyn, they have been performing in the NY area with brothers John (guitar) and Mike Bendy (bass) as the Bendy Pastorius Group.

In July they opened up for Oteil and the Peacemakers at The Big Easy, Portland Maine. This was the first time they performed as a quartet, without rehearsal. Someone recorded the show which you can now hear at:

Yes, there are 2 bass players.

You'll hear mostly Felix on Cissy Strut.

Mike and Julius do a duet, then with brother John the three perform their tune "Deerfield Beach", written as we were waiting for hurricane Wilma to hit us 2 years ago (Felix was out of town). Wilma slammed us hard, and so is this tune slammin'.

WOW!

As I write this, I am listening to Felix and Julius burn it up! WOW! I thought I could see developing stages with the Way of the Groove cuts I heard but man...these little cats have found something with Bendy-Pastorius!

I know it must be hard fighting the image that everyone expects of them. They are expected to sound a certain way, act a certain way, be their father instead of themselves. Here, they are proving they have to answer to none other than themselves. They are hot!

I have not listened to the second link yet but will do so as soon as this one ends.

KUDOS to the boys (men)!
