Ingrid, this is probably a very 'blonde' question but: Oakland Park City is something else than Fort Lauderdale or Deerfield Beach? Is this a different municipality?
An important and very welcome question, Jeroen, good thing you are blonde!
Florida is divided by Counties, each has its own number of cities. Each city adheres to State, County, and its own City Rules. One of the counties, Broward County, has 31 cities.

Oakland Park, Deerfield, Pompano, Dania, Fort Lauderdale, and Wilton Manors are some of the cities within Broward County that relate to Jaco.

“There are seven incorporated towns in Broward
County,” writes Miner. “All of these have electric services and most of them water works and sewage.”
The big seven that had moved past the days of the outhouse were Fort Lauderdale, Dania, Pompano, Deerfield, Oakland Park, Hollywood and Hallandale. All but one of them fronted on the ocean but in those days towns made no effort to lure tourists by adding the word “Beach” to their names."
Jeroen, Oakland Park is a city on its own, which also borders Fort Lauderdale, and is about 10 miles south of Deerfield Beach. Naming the Jaco Park was done via the City's own rules and regulations, a protocol that included taking the steps to fill out an application, deliver it and signatures to the Commissioners of Oakland Park City in the first public meeting, with follow up meetings to plead your case, and voice opinions.
Technically, we could go to the other cities as well, and apply for a place to honor Jaco there...... :o)
