Bass Tuning(s) Strings and Adjustments

Hello I was wondering if there are any bass players students, like me too, here who might like to discuss this subject as I am interested in gaining some knowledge.

Thanks

Re: Bass Tuning(s) Strings and Adjustments

Hi.
I have used several tunings on my old Fender jazz basses.
One is DGDG. You can than go down to low D and use the same fingerings on the two lowest strings.
You just have to change position when you go to the two highest strings.
Also try to tune the bass in fifth's(CGDA or EBF#C#)

Listening To: Good music

Re: Bass Tuning(s) Strings and Adjustments

Arne; Great Idea! I usually detune while I play to whatever comes along. With your suggestion, I have tried the 5ths, and instead of adjusting the neck and messing with high tension; I bought new strings changed the strings to experiment around:

Rotosound Was:
E=105
A=85
D=65
G=45

GHS Steel Now:
E=102
B=80
F#=44
C#=27 w

I am getting all new ideas as I am getting used to the interval changes. It's a great finger exercise and a challenge to play the scales and chords I am used to.

Tack
