Well that is amazing. But you'll have to forgive my ignorance. I thought the park was going to be where an existing park was. That looks like a parking lot. Is that asphalt the equipment is tearing up, or is it just the little screen on my computer? Very cool though.
No John, please forgive me for pointing out earlier statements that it was never an existing park, I believe this is Oakland Park City's first big park.
After the vote for Jaco (Nov. 27, 2007), the City successfully bought a couple of more acres to increase it's size. http://pub40.bravenet.com/forum/3399669569/show/709950
Next week Thursday there is a Community meeting, requesting for input on planning the vision of the Park. Students from the highschool Jaco attended submitted a model of how they would like to see the park.

My first post about the Park, Apr 17th, 2006:
"There is a decent size lot in the city of Oakland Park, Florida, in the shape of a triangle about to made into a park, streets down from his childhood homes, directly adjacent to Dixie Highway that hasn't been named yet."

So, yes, it's a lot, lots of asphalt, and any ideas anyone who cares has to put in the park feel free to list here and a resident will pass it on.
Of course I think it's all cool, took almost 3 years of challenges to get to this point. Glad you're digging the dig, John!
There are 60 hrs left before the "input meeting". Suggestions thus far:
