I bet the admins over there will help you out in no time. Good luck!
why has no one mentioned Darcy from Tracey's 'Strange Bedfellows???!!!'
to me, he is the best Darcy. The mix of angst and such devotion is heartrending. I was soooo happy she updated, but disappointed there was no darcy/elizabeth in the latest chapter. Oh well, must wait. I think tracey must know she has us all at her mercy, and is just pulling the story out as long as possible to torture us... no, I'm sure she has her reasons...
darcy in 'the muse' is a close second (by the way, renee, the muse is an amazing story, I think you should feature it on your site). I am a ballet dancer and I love that side of him in this story.
hmmm, oh, and of course, Ayden's 'the great game' and 'ebb and flow' this is darcy writing at its best... all of these writers know how to write a good darcy!!
sorry, this was way too long... I guess I have nothing better to do.
Strange Bedfellows is Tanya's, not Tracey's. Tracey wrote an amazing modern retelling of P&P: Action and Reaction. A story she has just finished.
As far as The Muse is concerned, I agree, lovely story, but it's already published on quite a few sites, so I bet the authoress is quite satisfied with the coverage.
While I wish I could take credit for Tanya's work (she is so evocative when she writes!), I can't, and that would only make me responsible for another story that is taking forever! LOL
Seriously, I do wish she would put pen to paper again since her readers are dying to know what happens. :)
but but but Tracey, Tanya has just posted a new chapter of SB!
See how out of the fan fic loop I am! How fabulous, Renee!
after I had posted the comment, I noticed my mistake. I had just been reading TRACEY'S Action and Reaction and had it on my mind... I could read the final chapter of that again and again, what a great ending!!
I should have included her darcy as well... ah me, so many to chose from!
I guess this is what I get for being to impatient to preview my messages before posting...:)
In Belen's Obstacles to Overcome
There are 2 great lines of Darcy's that make you melt:
He held her by the chin and locked his eyes with hers. "You seemed to enjoy it but I warn you, madam: be careful because the next time I won't let you go so easily."
He closed his eyes when he felt her lips nibbling his neck. How was he supposed to recover his composure if she kept provoking him? "Enough, Elizabeth, please," he begged.
"Why," she insisted, "can't you handle it?"
Handle this. He took her by the wrist and placed her hand right on his erection.
Darcy held her on him, long enough for her to feel what she was doing to him.
SWOON WORTHY-LOVE IT!!!
Hey Joanna, I thought I'd better ask whether perhaps you hadn't posted in the "For new members, read me!" thread i only ask this because I didn't myself and went through so much confusion as to why I couldn't see into Fiction Blooms. Registration won't be complete until you post in there. And obviously you can't read the stories until your registered. To get there go through "before you enter>welcome."
as to answering the question, I'm not sure whether Jesse's "The Muse" Darcy is my favourite, but it's definitely my favourite fic, so I'll put him there. Favourite Darcy moment, I think I'm going to have to ponder a little more.
That's exactly what I had done wrong Steph, and the administrators sent me an email explaining that I had to post in the welcome board. I have never had to do that before so it didn't occur to me until it was spelt out clearly.
As for my favourite Darcy, it's tough to choose. I really like Ayden's Darcy in 'The Improvement of her mind' especially the scene on the terrace where he sensuously woos Elizabeth and kisses her while talking about his travels to the continent.
I also like Darcy in Silver Dust especially his terrible proposal which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I was re-reading Long Road to Happiness last night-- and came across another swoon worthy Darcy moment...
a pivotal moment for E&D when he comes up from behind a crying and angry Elizabeth in her uncle Gardiner's study and he says something like, "Don't turn around, I don't think I could handle the disappointment in your eyes." and then the scene goes on to have them embrace, whisper sweet nothings, etc.
I love the Darcy in An Unexpected Song. It was one of the first FF that I read and fell in love with the story. Since reading it I have discovered and fell in love with the following Darcys -
And Grace Will Lead Me Home
Action & Reaction
No Strings Attached (I think this may be my favorite. The letters are so sensual. I highly recommend this one!
Thanks for the tip Koko! One of my absolute favs is Action&Reaction. I know Rika's but haven't followed it since chapter 13, so there's a lot for me to catch up to, isn't there? The others I don't know at all. Perhaps next year when things are a little less hectic. Where can we find them?
I just happened to read your last post and because "Fragments" by Teg is one of my favourite stories, here is the link for it:
As for "And Grace will lead me home" I read it at HG. But HG is down at the moment...
The major Mr Darcy’s memorable moments are already listed here, but I would add Angel of Centrefold, particularly - With a contented sigh, William walked across the room towards Elizabeth, “I believe you left something important in New York City. I also believe that you made a decision that wasn’t yours to make.”
Pulling Elizabeth towards him, he enfolded her in his arms before addressing a stunned Mrs. Bennet, “I believe I have my Miss Bennet. But thank you for introducing me to her sisters.”
By the way, Joanna, Teg did completed A New Leaf already, but I not sure of DWG still have it in archive. I have TXT cope on my computer, if you like I could email it to you, be warned it a FWC JAFF.
Thank you hanghnu, but on rereading the version I had of a New Leaf, I think it must be the completed one. I just couldn't believe that it would finish so dismally for our favourite couple.
Just in case, I have missed a chapter, doesn't it end with Elizabeth agreeing to marry Fitzwilliam? And our lovers forever separated?
Well, taking the advice here I read The Great Game and OMG! I can safely add this Mr Darcy to me favorite list. Both The Great Game and No Strings Attached are equally number 1 with me. Mr Darcy is very very sensual in both reads.
Luxury Gap Darcy & A Shade in his character Darcy, & The Muse Darcy--but so many great Darcy's to chose from
Mabe this is not the proper place to ask this question but as it was mentioned above, does anyone know the link for "Luxury Gap"?
Sharla has her own site but it's not accessible at the moment, and I don't know when it will be again.
This is the only link available but it's just up to chapter 29. Sharla has posted some more chapters that's not in this link:
It's a great story. I particularly love Elizabeth's independent personality in this one.
Joanna, Just in case, I have missed a chapter, doesn't it end with Elizabeth agreeing to marry Fitzwilliam? And our lovers forever separated?
Yes, unfortunately that is the correct ending, after this FWCI told myself never to stumble in another again, I simply could not bear it, it just seem so unnatural. Unfortunately I also stumble into 'To bear is to Conquer Fate' & 'The Family Circle' and perhaps others but I never finish them as soon as I realise it was FWC.
koko4colin or maria or anyone else...
do you know if "And Grace Will Lead Me Home" is a completed story? At AHA, Elizabeth just found out she is pregnant. And of course, HG is down...and I have never been able to get into that site anyway. Thanks!
Ashley removed "And Grace Will Lead Me Home" for editing (she's currently working on a sequel ), but you can find a complete version of it here http://jaffstories.mishanator.net/
andra...you rock! thanks!!!
THank you very much, Sahar.
By the way, if "And Grace will ..." suppose to be published and has been removed, shouldn't all links be off?...
And yes, this is a completed story and a very nice one, too!!!
I read this story At Your Service by Genette at DWG, a while ago but today had a craving for a bit of mush-- and remembered a very sweet Darcy saying "...at your service" to Elizabeth and it turns out he is meaning to say "I love you." They were sharing his coach back from Rosings to London when the carriage overturns, etc etc. But that turns out not to be my favorite part of the story after all. As I continue on, I came across a very lovely scene where Darcy is trying to comfort a nearly raped Elizabeth (Wickham kidnapped her & Jane) and the following swoonworthy scene warms my heart. Hope it does yours as well...
I drew near and laid the candle down on the table by the bed. She looked up at me solemnly and asked, “Will you lay here with me?” I nodded, unsure what she was about. I took off my shoes and climbed in beside her as she shifted slightly aside that I might join her. I lay on my side and looked down at her. She reached up and stroked my cheek and then my neck. She whispered, “He suggested at one point that I might pretend I was in the master chamber bed with you. I wish to replace the thought of what was happening then with more pleasant remembrances.” I saw from her look then that she wished for me to kiss her. I leaned in to do so very gently. It was more difficult to set aside thoughts of more intimacy with her as we lay in my bed, where I’d had so many dreams and fantasies. She clung to me tightly, murmuring of her love for me and asking that I never stop.
I kissed her again and asked, “May I have a private interview with you tomorrow?”
Amusement plain in her face, she pointed out, “We are quite alone right now.”
I nodded and said, “Indeed, we are. But I want to be able to relate the story of a successful marriage proposal to our children. I would not tell them that I stole into your room by night and led you to my bed to propose.” I kissed her again, with more apparent hunger. She laughed slightly.
I added lightly, “Nor would I wish to tell them that you so doubted my desire of you that you went to great lengths to prove it to yourself, taking my sanity in the process.” I lightly nipped at her ear lobe and then kissed down her neck and savored her delightfully warm response. I kissed her lips again. I whispered, “I want you desperately and can hardly bear the temptation of you. When you lay against me last night it was nearly painful. I wanted to love you as God enabled us when he created the comfort of the marriage bed. Yet I would not harm or frighten you for anything. Your softness and sweetness, your delightful innocent beauty, kindle a desire in me that will take a lifetime to quench.” I kissed her again and then looked deep into her eyes. “I will not begin that lifetime of loving with shame and guilt. We have long tarried beyond lines of propriety, as we both realize. I think, much as I do not wish it, that I must escort you back to your chamber now.”
This is so sweet... Thank you for sharing, dear.
What a fun thread, I've only just seen it today. So many Darcy's to choose from but I'd say my top five are (in no special order)
Luxury Gap Darcy-the ultimate modern day alpha male. Loved him when he's tearing her clothes off! LOL!
Action and Reaction Darcy-another amazing alpha male, just the image of him on the catwalk with A Little Less Conversation playing in the background and throwing dagger eyes at Lizzy! Love it!
Under My Skin Darcy - a dark and stormy night looking for condoms LOL! I love this man!
A Most Convenient Mishap Darcy-he has such a sense of humor and knows perfectly how to torture Lizzy with seduction
Mr. Darcy Steals a Kiss Darcy-love it how he's so impatient to get the wedding over with and have Lizzy all to himself!
A Singular Proposition Darcy - yummm Very passionate
Mr. Darcy Steals a Kiss Darcy-love it how he's so impatient to get the wedding over with and have Lizzy all to himself!
Ah, Julie! Kerry stories. *sigh* So lovely. Such a talent. She seems to have disappeared from the fandom. Such a shame. I doubt my all time favourite "A Marriage of True Minds" will ever be finished.
R~ <- off to re-read Kerry's stories.
I am not familiar with the Under My Skin story Julie mentions. Where could I find it?
Unfortunately Lisa L pulled that fantabulous story from the boards. But at Mrs Darcy's there are still a couple of Lisa L goodies. Mr Popularity is a WIP, but A Long Road to Happiness is finished and soooooooo worthwhile. One of my all time favourites.
Thanks for the info. Too bad about Under My Skin; it sounds very entertaining!
I was reading the booklet on the making of BBC Pride and Prejudice and found this comment by Mr Colin Firth that made me laughed.
He says he had begun to appropriate the character of Darcy and sort of felt that owned him. So much so that when all the actors were summoned for a read-through and he was surrounded by all these fantastic characters making everybody laugh he was thinking,
'Well. I was dull>.'
Moreover, he began to notice that not a soul came up to him. He knew one or two people and talked to them, but he would say out of cast of over fifty people, very few seemed willing to talk to him. It then occurred to him that because he was playing Darcy he had to work quite hard to convince people that he would be friendly during the film!!
