Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Mrs. Darcy, Just wanted to know if you have seen any of the Lost in Austen series? The two epis I saw, I loved. How totally fan fiction! And I am loving that actor who plays Darcy, Elliot Cowan. He plays Darcy perfectly -- totally arrogant, prideful, hateful-hateful-man! So I was wondering, if you had any thoughts as to adding any photos of his smoldering looks to your web pages... you know, in your free time, (:! I for one, would be most pleased.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Hi Christina,
I was wondering what the Lost in Austen series is? I never heard of it.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Alas, christina, I don't receive ITV where I live, but I hope to see it in the near future.

Here's some more information on the official website, pictures and clips included:

Lost in Austen

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

What a shame, the videos can only be seen if you are a resident of the UK....

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Hello, everyone!

Right, I've not been actively posting lately, but I have a good reason for it which you will know of at once, as I can not keep this to myself:

A few days ago, I read Christina's post about the series "Lost in Austen" and I was immediately interested, so I did some research. As Renée mentions, only residents in the UK can watch it in the ITV website (lucky Britons!)

Now, Maria, I've got a surprise for you: In my intensive research I came across this fantastic website where you may see the entire series on-line (the last episode was aired last Wednesday, I think) I do not know how to give you the direct link (I'm useless around computers), but you may just copy this

http://www.surfthechannel.com/info/television/Lost_in_Austen/121793/S1E1.html?aid=202107

onto the address bar of your explorer and that should work.

I've just finished watching the last episode and I could not keep this treasure from you all. It has some very good points and a few flaws, but, as a whole, I loved it, so, Christina, thank you so much for bringing this up. And I totally agree with you, it is fan fiction on screen!

Enjoy everyone,

Rori

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Rori, my dear girl, you are the best! Thank you, thank you.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

My pleasure!

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Dear Rori,

I thank you for the information. I got in the webside but I could only upload one small part on Amanda's fight with Mr Darcy and i do not get anymore information even having already registered. How did you get to see more?

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Yep, it was slightly tricky for me too at the beginning. This is what I did:

Once you open the page directly on the link:

http://www.surfthechannel.com/info/television/Lost_in_Austen/121793/S1E1.html?aid=202107

you will see a screen on the right hand side, with a play symbol in the centre and the message "click play to watch video". If the link is correct, you should see the symbol.

After you click on the play symbol, the little screen is reloaded (in my computer, with adverts on getting dates and so on). Ignore the play symbol that will still appear in the centre, as it will only open the dating advert, and go directly to the bar on the bottom of the little screen. There you will find another play button. That is the one you want.

The episode should be complete. To have access to the rest of the series, there is a link on the menu on the left.

Or, I can provide you with the links and save you some time!

Ep. 2:

http://www.surfthechannel.com/info/television/Lost_in_Austen/121794/S1E2.html?aid=202108

Ep. 3:

http://www.surfthechannel.com/info/television/Lost_in_Austen/124979/S1E3.html?aid=230579

Ep. 4:

http://www.surfthechannel.com/info/television/Lost_in_Austen/128478/S1E4.html?aid=230269

That is all I can do with my limited knowledge on computers, I'm afraid, so I hope it works. If not, I have the complete series in my hard drive and I would be happy to share them (although I'm not too sure about the logistics to do it!)

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

It works, it works, dear Rori. Thank you so much!
You are an angel!!!

Guess what I am going to do now?!...

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

What? What? Not going through some hidden door into Longbourn! May I come along?

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Dear Rori,

I am in troubles again...
I cannot go in the webside. The links you gave I could open and watch them all. But now it does not work anymore...

Would it be too much to ask you the links that follow?!...

Thank you so much...

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

You are welcome to come along, dear Rori...
I just have to find the way in...

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Mrs. Darcy, Have you heard anything from JanH?? I know she lost her dear husband earlier this year -- and I was just wondering how she might be doing. I have been indulging in some of her greatest hits again-- presently An Arranged Marriage -- delicious no matter how many times I have read it. But in re-reading it, I was reminded of her loss-- and so she has been on my mind... So I guess what I wanted to know was if she was doing okay -- and to just pass along that she is much beloved out here in the fandom and still in our thoughts.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

I'm sure Jan will be very pleased you inquired, Christina. She just replied to a post in one of her story threads. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't been in touch for a while, but think of her very often. In the last e-mail exchange we had she told me that it's difficult but that she'll get through it eventually.

I'm sure she'll appreciate a personal e-mail, dear. You'll find the link to her addy on the bottom of each page of her stories.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Dearest Christina,

I'm okay. And I'm touched by your concern and by the fact that you're re-reading some of my stories. We must be on the same wave length. I've been feeling particularly blue the last couple of days, so I pulled out comments about "An Arranged Marriage" that I had saved and read them again. Is that vanity or what? Whether it is or not, it made me feel loved, and that's exactly what I needed.

Thank you for asking about me.

-Jan

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Dear Jan H,

believe me you have a lot of fans out here that love you through your stories.
And Yes, YOU ARE LOVED!!!

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Dearest Jan
People come to feel for each other when they share. sometimes they're your classmates, neighbor or somebody you get to know on a trip to somewhere. or when you feel close to people you don't even know their names, when they tell you about their pains or joys in a waiting room, or on a bench in a park.
It doesn't matter how, but you come to feel for them, then you never wholly forget them.

You don't know me. I never wrote any story to share with you. but I feel for you. you shared part of your world with me and I'm sure there are loads of people like me whom you don't know but who have read your works and they'd never forget you.

You are in my thoughts, dear.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Oh, Maria and Sahar, thank you so much. It is such a comfort to know you are there, and, as you said, Sahar, even though we've never actually met, this lovely site provides a valuable connection. Thanks to dear Renee for creating it.

-Jan

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

My dear Jan,

Admittedly, it's a bit silent around me lately. On the one hand it's due to my workload, and some family matters (don't worry, not my own little family) that require a lot of my attention on the other. Furthermore there aren't many updates at the moment... Soph, Ellen, anyone else?

Anyway, practically not a day passes that I do not think about you, dear Jan. I'm awfully glad to 'see' you around once in a while though.

H&K
R~

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Dear Jan,

There is no better way of expressing it than Sahar's. This site is indeed a sort of shelter, a strange little family, where somehow we have all gathered and come to care for each other. (And dearest Renée is the mother hen, having us all under her wing and feeding us a story from time to time)

What I'm trying to say is, you have my support (our support I venture to say) and whatever you may need to help cheering you up, just name it.

Maybe re-reading your stories and letting you know how very much I love each and every one of them might help! It would be a bonus to me in any case, so I may do it all the same...

Love,

Rori

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Thank you Renee and Rori. I love what you said, Rori, about Renee being our mother hen, and I do love the stories she feeds us from time to time. This is a good place to be.

-Jan

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Speaking of feeding, are there any more WIP's in the pipeline to be posted on this site? MD def rates up there as one of my favs coz you host some of the best stories!

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

While we wait for a post here...does any know where I can find the story where Elizabeth becomes engaged to an older man but decides to run away from him and has a one night affair with Darcy at a costume ball but he doesnt know it is her. That produced a son who is a genius. Then, it literally takes them for-ever to get together. I loved that story and hopefully someone can help me! Thank you.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

I think the story is Disguise of Every Sort, you can find it on HG, here's the link: http://www.hyacinthgardens.com/garden/index.php?showtopic=1597

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Thanks Sheila! That is it...

Since I don't have a password for HG, I also found it at Austen Interlude:

http://meryton.com/susan/DOEStableofcontents.html

If anyone wants to check it out. It is very long and drawn out but one of the most beautiful stories I have read!

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Dear Jan,

First and foremost, I am terribly sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Like Sahar said you don't know me either and I never wrote any story to share with you but through your stories we learn to care for you and feel for you; and each time we re-read them, we remember you. You become part of our world.

Please know that you are loved by many of the unknown faces that read your wonderful stories.

Hugs,

Lili.....

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Thank you, Lili. That's so sweet of you, and I appreciate it.

-Jan

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

One question:
Does anybody know what happen to the Luxury Gap?
The link I use to have does not work anymore.
I started reading this story and now I cannot seem to open it anymore.
Would be very grateful if any of you wonderful ladies could sent me the link.
Thank you very, very much.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

I have no idea, Maria, but I posted a message in my livejournal. Perhaps a person on my friends list has more information. I'll let you know asa I receive a reply.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

In the meantime I learned that Sharla's working on it. Don't know the reason why the site is down, but as I understand it it should be up again shortly.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Thank you Renée. You are so eficient, caring and reliable, amazing.
Therefore "Mrs Darcy" is my favourite Fan-site. It is soooooooooo good to know you are there... Thank you for all your investment, efforts and loving heart.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Is anyone else having trouble accessing meryton.com today (4-5:30 pm est)?

I'm getting a 'cannot find server' message.

I'm also having trouble with austenunderground.

(no problems with dwg, hg or this site, obviously.)

Thanks,
Margaret

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Does any one know if Strange Bedfellows is scheduled for any update anytime soon? I love this story and I'm hoping it continues. Also, what's DWG? I saw this in one of the messages. I'm kinda of new to all this and I don't want to miss out on any stories. Thanks.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Hi Ladies...

Margaret: At least for Austen Interlude, if you just go to meryton.com, you should be able to get to the stories. But for example, I used the link that I provided a few weeks ago to Susan's page (meryton.com/susan) and it does not work but if I go straight to meryton.com and then go to Susan's page, it does work.

Denise: DWG is Derbyshire Writers' Guild which is austen.com

As for Strange Bedfellows, does anyone really know? We are all clueless my dear...

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Thanks, Kayachick.

I got some help at another site--it turned out that clearing the cache and cookies on my browser fixed the problem.

Cheers,
M

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

FYI...

You can no longer reach Austen Interlude by going to meryton.com but they have their own website back:

http://www.austeninterlude.org/

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

I have said before that I love all Jan H's stories. I just finished re-reading "The Sins of the Fathers". It is such a beautiful story and I recommend it to everyone. I should have been doing all sorts of other things getting ready for the holidays, but I couldn't put it down.

Thanks again, Jan for sharing your wonderful talent. I always look forward to and hope for new stories you may be writing.

On another note, what happened to Elena and her stories? I seem to have missed something.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

On another note, what happened to Elena and her stories? I seem to have missed something.

She had her stories deleted for editing purposes. Of course I hope she'll decide to re-post them eventually.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Ah, Gwendolyn, you're sure a dear to read my stuff and take the time to comment again. Thank you, and happy holidays!

-Jan

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Renee
Do you know the story in which Darcy and Elizabeth show up at an engagement dinner for Jane and Bingley and Darcy gets the gentlemen to happily force Elizabeth to marry Darcy? Thanks.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Oh!!!I know, I know!!!It's 'The journey'. I can't remember the author but this fiction is one of my favourites. Enjoy it^_^

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Very good, Alexie! The Journey is written by Jan H, and you can find this story plus her others here

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Does anyone know of a D&E story featuring Georgianna and her husband Brit? They offer to take the Darcy children away for a holiday to give the Darcys some alone time? I was asked about this story recently and cannot remember the name. Thank you!

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

I can't seem to get on HG. My computer was down for awhile so I don't know what happened.

Are they coming back?

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

HG appears to be down, Victoria. I have been unable to access all day, so you are not alone. Let's cross our fingers that it will be of short duration!

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

It's a little over 8 GMT here, and still no access... It can happen, don't despair, it'll be in the air again before you know it.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Thanks. At least I know it just not me. Still, I am in serious withdrawal!

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

Ladies and gents, Kate asked the following question:

Hi,

I was hoping somebody could help me, I've been searching for a wonderful story that I read a while back, but cannot find it.

Its a modern story where Elizabeth has a car accident in the snow, Mr Darcy sees her and takes her back to pemberley. Its around christmas time.

Its set shortly after his refused marriage proposal, which makes things quite awkward.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Kate

Somehow it sounds familiar but ... I cannot help out, but perhaps one of you can!

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

There's one story in your site, Mrs Darcy, which unfortunately was never finished, where Darcy drives in the snow to Pemberley and Lizzy and he stayed there and I think Georgina was there too. I can't remember which of them.

Re: Have an urgent question about ff stories, ff sites, ff authors...?

I thought I was reading a story HERE about a Modern Mark Darcy who is a professor and meets up with Lizzy as she tries to ditch a blind date with Collins. Darcy ends up being Janes teacher. Lizzy may go by a different name. I don't remember the name of the Story or the Author. Is it on this site? Does any one know the name of the story or Author? If not on this site anyone know where it might be?

Thanks
Geri
