Upgrades to the Regency Encyclopedia - Update your bookmarks

Happy New Year everyone!

With the Regency Encyclopedia entering its fourth year of operation, Victoria and I made some upgrades to the site.

Victoria has upgraded and refined all the underlying code so that you should immediately notice an increase in speed as the pages load. Because of this code revision, you will need to reenter through the main page www.reg-ency.com and make a new bookmark. If you continue to use your old bookmark, you will get a page not found error message.

As long as we were overhauling the code, Victoria was kind enough to indulge me with a few goodies that will upgrade your user experience.

1. All modules now have fixed headers with navigation buttons. No more continous scrolling to find a navigation button. These navigation buttons will always remain in view and the data will be the only thing that scrolls.

2. Our oldest modules, Facts & Novel Calendars, have gotten a makeover with new wallpapers.

3. In the Names module, biographapical magazine articles have been added to over 100 people in the portrait gallery.

4. The Fashion Module has the most enhancements.

a. There are a couple hundred fashion prints added to the database since last September's launch of this module. In addition, there are many more fashion definitions added, including many of the French terms.

b. We've added two new search criteria - dress and headwear color. The fashion prints have many exotic color names but for the sake of this sort, we've kept it to simple colors like red, blue, yellow etc. Please note, very often the color in the fashion print and the color stated in the accompanying text do NOT match. The fashion print has been indexed with both colors.

c. You now have a choice of either displaying to screen or to a report that can be sent to a printer or to Adobe pdf.

Hope you enjoy the enhancements,

Sue
