Pass the cream please...a "Dad" recollection

With today's emphasis on keeping trim and banning "skinny" models, it's time to go back to yester year, when fat was a good thing...even thought to be "healthy" by the old biddies who grew up in the Victorian era.

The following is a "Dad" recollection as a boy:

It appears Dad was quite "skinny" in his early youth, much to the chagrine of his Grandma Hilton (Sarah Jane Harrill Hilton 1862-1934) and possibly his Aunt Julie Harrill, whom he couldn't stand...but that's another story (to be related later).

Grandma Hilton much insisted that he "fatten up" and generously poured real cream (fresh from the cow milking)on his oatmeal every morning to keep him in the pink of health, free from the grippe, consumption (aka tuberculosis), and other dreaded diseases.

Fortunately, as Dad broke away from this scheme, he got a little wiser and switched to milk...but (as I recall) he still loved his bacon and eggs...of course, with buttered toast.

Love to all and NO CREAM, please...except occasionally.
