The Thames Valley Retail Crime Forum met yesterday at Didcot

The Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Barber, opened the event by addressing his comments to make shoplifting a wider societal responsibility. Matthew discussed the importance of reporting crime and how tackling retail crime makes communities safer.

Inspector Mike Darrah, Community Policing Command Inspector for Thames Valley Police, presented the latest information on the Summer activities in the fight to reduce retail crime. He also said that the force will intensify its work in the pre-Christmas period which is the busiest time of the year for retailers.

The forum also heard from Supt Lisa Maslen, National Business Crime Centre, on the national response.

Louisa Guererro gave John Lewis & Partners perspective as a retailer using the Disc App and focused on reporting crime and engaging with the police.

Our colleague Kelly Brown from Victims First explained how the free, confidential service can support victims in a retail setting, either in their role or in their personal life.
