Re: PROPOSED COOKHAM CREMATORIUM

25/03313/FULL - THE CREMATORIUM AT LOWER MOUNT FARM

The Blot On The Landscape has been Resubmitted

RENEWED OBJECTIONS NEEDED

This re-submission has changed very little from the original one but new objections are still needed urgently to stop this blot on the landscape going ahead. There are many reasons to object, for example:-

-- A new crematorium was not identified as needed in the Borough Local Plan. If RBWM does identify the requirement then a proper analysis of all site options must be done first.

-- Location is supposed to service the RBWM area in which case it should not be in the top NW edge of the Borough but in the centre, between Maidenhead and Windsor, thus avoiding unnecessary traffic movements into Cookham.

-- The location may attract visitors from Marlow area meaning access is either via narrow Cookham Dean roads or via busy and narrow Cookham Bridge and Village roads.

-- Road access to the site from the west could result in visitors unfamiliar with the area following SatNav instructions and driving down the very bumpy and narrow Long Lane. Any extra traffic on there would be inconvenient and possibly dangerous.

-- The 500 metre long site would be a blot on the beautiful, rural Greenbelt landscape as portrayed in several paintings by Sir Stanley Spencer.

-- Wildlife and bio-diversity are not enhanced by thoughtless applications like this.

--The local area already has traffic and parking overload projected by approved applications at adjacent Lower Mount Farm (200 dwellings), nearby Spencer's Farm (330 dwellings), Holland's Farm (360 dwellings) and Marlow Film Studios. Further traffic from this development is unacceptable.

--The Society has identified various design problems and anomalies in the application which don't bode well for the success of any development by this applicant.

If you agree please submit your objection to planning@rbwm.org.uk as soon as possible, ideally before 12th January. Please include the new application number 25/03313FULL, your name, address and contact details.
