HUNDREDS OF DINERS RETURN FOR A UNIQUE SAFARI SUPPER (Edited by Author)

Hundreds of diners will march on nine of Marlow’s finest restaurants on April 28 to sample gourmet food on a mystery tour to raise money for charity.
Tickets for the food safari go on general sale this Thursday (January 8) with visits to three of the nine restaurants. None of the record number of 480 diners will know where they are going, but will be led on 1,400 journeys around surrounding streets.

Marlow Tastes, now in its fourth year, will launch with a reception at All Saints Church and at the nearby Shelley Theatre.
The event is organised by Marlow Thames Rotary Club and has raised more than £40,000 for charitable causes since its inception. The organisers hope for a record of over £20,000 this year.

As well as showcasing some fine dining, the adventurers will provide support for this year’s two leading charities: Horizon Sports Club, who engage disabled young people in sport and physical activity, and Florence Nightingale Hospice who support patients living with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses.

John Bromwich, chair of the organising team, said: “Our participating restaurants have yet again risen to this challenge. It’s a chance to raise significant funds for these charities and for our guests to have a novel dining experience. Over 70 volunteers are involved in our adventure.

“This progressive supper is unique to Marlow, a town gifted with fine restaurants. It’s an opportunity to try out some of our best fare at new venues while raising much-needed funds for good causes.”
Taking part this year are the Compleat Angler Riverside Restaurant, La Cantina del Vino, Cote Brasserie, The Ivy Marlow Garden, Lavvin, Piccolino, The Oarsman, Suum Kitchen and Vaasu.

Tickets cost £80 and are available through the website Marlowtastes.menu. Purchases can be made for groups of up to six people, in even numbers. Every effort will be made to place known groups together. The selected restaurants will be kept secret but are all within ten minutes’ walk.
Marlow has three highly active Rotary clubs providing support and funds where most needed. One of their many highlights is the Santas Fun Run which attracts 3,000 contestants from a wide area.
