I've had confirmation from Marks & Spencer that due to a delay in opening their new store in Stafferton Way Retail Park, the current store on Maidenhead High Street will remain open until Summer 2027.
Although I am pleased to see M&S committing to a new store in Maidenhead, lots of residents have shared concerns with me about the closure of the High Street store, so it is good to see M&S confirming that the store will stay open for an extra 12 months, which will support Maidenhead High Street and local M&S shoppers.
The demolition of the Nicholsons Centre is also fast approaching and I know many residents are concerned about what will happen to the Post Office in particular. I have made clear that Maidenhead must have a town-centre-based Post Office and I am campaigning to secure a new home for it. I am pleased to hear that there are many bids happening that are based near the High Street and I am hopeful that this campaign will be a success.
