Please see the details of Central Government want to introduce a National Scheme of Delegation to control who decides planning applications at the council.
They are consulting on a change in the law that will mean nearly all applications will only to be decided by officers in private not councillors in public. This will include proposals with fewer than 10 homes.
Larger plans will also only be made by officers unless very specific criteria are met.
The current rules that allow your Ward Councillors to call-in smaller but controversial application so that these can be considered by public committee will also be abolished.
The deadline for comments is Thursday 23rd April 2026.
