A developer has withdrawn controversial plans to transform a piece of greenbelt land in Cookham into a cancer clinic.

The major scheme was a joint venture between Dr Nina Fuller-Shavel and Hale Estate Berkshire – submitted to the Royal Borough in February.

The plans for the specialist oncology centre and cafe farm shop were set to be discussed by Windsor and Maidenhead council’s planning committee.
But the proposals were withdrawn last week before councillors could make a final decision on the redevelopment.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) reached out to the applicant, Dr Fuller-Shavel, but she had no further comment about why the plans were withdrawn and whether or not these would be resubmitted.

The proposals sought permission to redevelop an agricultural site at Grange Farm, Grange Road, into a centre for the Synthesis Clinic and the charity National Centre for Integrative Oncology (NCIO).
