There has been some activity on the development at the Gas Holder site off Whyteladyes Road, where 55 homes are proposed.
The developer has submitted to RBWM details of its consultation with the Health and Safety Executive. This shows a “Proposed Site Layout” for the HSE to comment on, see below. Note, at this stage it is not a full planning application, but it is interesting to see what the developer is considering.
For those newer to Cookham the site contained two gas holders plus the associated gas pipes and pumps etc. and the gas holders were demolished about 10 years ago. The land is understood to be polluted from its previous use and will need extensive remediation.
Your councillors, Mark and Mandy will represent Cookham residents as this development progresses. As this site is identified as one for development in the current RBWM borough local plan it will be difficult to stop redevelopment. We can, however, work to ensure that the homes in this proposal are as good as they should be and that it adequately takes account of local infrastructure, such as a proper forecast of the cumulative impact on traffic.
