We’re upgrading the gas pipes along The Pound and Terry’s Lane, Cookham from 27 July until 4 October 2026.
We’ve developed a project to upgrade approximately 1700 metres of ageing metal gas pipes from the junction of Maidenhead Road to the junction of School Lane, including Terry’s Lane.
Some of our gas network is over 80-100 years old and over the years there have been multiple repairs, resulting in extensive traffic management.
This project will eliminate the need for recurrent repairs and also enhance the reliability of our gas network to ensure we keep you safe, warm and connected.
To carry out our works safely and access our pipes, we’re carrying out these works in a number of phases with different traffic management requirements, which include road closures and temporary traffic lights.
How are we managing the traffic during our works?
The Pound (27 July – 7 September 2026)*
27 July – 16 August
Road closure on The Pound from the junction of Maidenhead Road to the junction of Terry’s Lane.
Junction closures on Terry’s Lane and Grange Road from The Pound.
Access will be maintained for residents, no through road or turning points.
Please follow signposted diversions via Maidenhead Road and Sutton Road.
27 July – 7 August
Two-way traffic lights on The Pound from the junction of Terry’s Lane to the junction of School Lane.
Two-way traffic lights on Maidenhead Road from the junction of Station Hill to outside Appledown.
17 August – 2 September
Multiway traffic lights on The Pound from the junction of Terry’s Lane to the junction of School Lane.
Terry’s Lane (14 September – 4 October 2026)*
14 September – 4 October
Road closure on Terry’s Lane from the junction of The Pound to the junction of Poundfield Lane. Access will be maintained for residents, no through road or turning points.
All businesses will be open as usual during our works, please follow signposted diversions for access.
*Dates may vary if we encounter any engineering difficulties.
