Royal Borough launches competition to name a borough bus! (Edited by Author)
Could you help name borough buses? A new competition has been launched in partnership with Carousel to help name new buses and show the very best of the Royal Borough.
The ‘Name a Borough Bus’ competition is open for submissions until midnight Sunday 30 August 2026. Residents are encouraged to submit names that have a link to the Royal Borough, whether it’s a fan-favourite landmark or a fond personal memory. Four winning submissions will be placed on display on buses. Parents or guardians are able to enter on behalf of those aged 16 and below.
Submissions will be reviewed and shortlisted by a panel from the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead and Carousel Buses. From Monday 14 September, residents will then get to help decide the four winning submissions through a public vote.
Cabinet member for Transport and Highways, Cllr Geoff Hill, said: “I’m delighted to announce the launch of this competition - a chance for residents to share their favourite parts of the Royal Borough. The bus network serves millions of journeys per year in the Royal Borough and we are committed to making sure that our residents feel represented in every part of the journey.
The competition follows the recent announcement for improvements to the bus service, following a review in collaboration with Carousel and Thames Valley Buses. Routes shown to have higher levels of usage and demand will now have more frequent buses, including route 7 which will run up to every 20 minutes between Maidenhead, Cox Green and Woodlands Park and route 37, a major link between Maidenhead and Windsor, High Wycombe and Bourne End, which will be enhanced to a 30-minute service. These improvements will go into effect on Sunday 21 June.
