Colourful kites to take to the skies as popular Kite Festival returns (Edited by Author)
Colourful kites are set to take to the skies above Boyn Grove Park this month as Norden Farm’s popular Kite Festival returns for another year.
The annual community festival will round off the summer holidays with an afternoon of fun between noon and 4pm on Sunday, August 30.
Guests can bring along their picnic blankets or camping chairs to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment.
As well as kite flying, this year’s line-up features live music, dance, storytelling, local food stalls, the Norden Farm pop up bar, and a new artisan market with local stallholders.
A range of stalls will showcase handmade items such as candles, jewellery, wood crafts and gifts.
Sass and Sparkle will be on hand with facepainting.
Visitors can bring their own kite, either homemade at one of Norden Farm’s summer Kite Making Workshops or pre-owned, to take to the skies above the park, also known as Punt Hill.
Kites can also be purchased and decorated on the day (subject to availability).
Guests will enjoy drumming sounds from The Dhol Collective, with dancers on hand to showcase some moves to a fusion of traditional Punjabi folk rhythms and popular modern music.
CAGED, an ‘explosive’ dance performance will ‘bring daring physicality and a punchy soundtrack’, all set in a three-metre-high birdcage.
Alongside this, attendees will be treated to upbeat saxophone sounds from musician Dhuryadas, as well country tunes from local talent Kirsty and Ryan, and summery soul blues from Chameleon.
As well as the music, visitors can try their hand at circus skills under the Copper Beech tree (ticketed).
Food stalls will include authentic Punjabi cuisine from Ka Na.
Guests can also pick up handmade pizzas from Presto Italian Street Food, and tuck into barbecue food from Smoking Skewers.
Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy homemade treats from Epic Brownies, as well as cookies from Get Whisked Away, ice cream from Agosti Gelato, and speciality coffees, teas and hot chocolates from Jessie’s Coffee Truck.
The Norden Farm Festival Bar and Barbecue will serve food and an array of drinks including soft drinks and Rebellion Brewery IPA and lager.
The Kite Festival is supported by funding from The Louis Baylis Charitable Trust, Shanly Foundation, The Cyril Taylor Charitable Foundation, and the Spoore, Merry and Rixman Foundation.
Optalis and GoodGym Windsor and Maidenhead are also supporters of the event.
Vistors still have time to create their own kite ahead of the festival at one of the Kite Making Workshops this summer.
The workshops are taking place at Norden Farm on Saturday, August 8 and Saturday, August 29 at 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
