Gunner Rhodes

My father was a Gunner in the Royal Artillery and served on Malta during the siege, though I don't know the exact dates. He was from Yorkshire and his full name was John William Rhodes. Unfortunately Dad died in 1969, but he often spoke of his time on Malta. He mentioned one time when he and a few others were trapped by bombing in a cellar. They didn't mind at all though as it was a wine store and they were more than 'merry' when they got out!

He also made friends with one family in particular, and helped them move into a cave when their home was bombed. Their surname was MICALLEF and they had a daughter NINA after whom I was named. There was also a son JOE and others. Nina and some of the family moved to US and we wrote for a while but I have lost contact. I would love to hear from her family or anyone who may remember Dad.
