I'm thrilled to announce that chapter one of Lisa's brand new modern day adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is now posted, dear readers.
Lisa has been been away for a while, moved from Australia to the US, but is settel now and fortunately for her great many fans in the fandom, she oicked up the pen again.
I just read Chapter one and I know that I am going to love this story. I think that the house being built is Darcy's but then again it could be Bingley's. I hope you are able to post more than once a week. Thank you.
Lisa, you're off to a great start on this one!! I will be very interested to know what the reason was for building so close to Elizabeth's home. I'm in great sympathy with her having her solitude trampled.
*gulp* Can't believe all the typos I made in my first post, Lisa! More things went wrong, didn't they, when I was on msn with you, while preparing the posting of your story?!
Anyway, I like to repeat here and now how happy I am to have you back in our midst and how wonderful it is you're sharing your talent with us again. I can't wait to read the next chapter!
Clever start, to my uneducated ear it sounds like you know a bit about marine biology/wildlife conservation, hobby, career, interest, or have you researched for the story? No stalking just interested.
I rather like the sound of a polished Jane, not so down to earth as her sister. Of course I also want to know who lives in the house next door. But I can wait.....a little while!
Well, stereotypical female response or not, I wanted to have a good cry as I read of the neighbor's encroachment further into poor Lizzy's domain. I could just feel my blood pressure rising.
Please tell me that Bingley is the owner of the monstrosity at his sister Caroline (AKA Stick Woman)'s behest. I can't think of any reason why a hopefully decent Darcy would be so inconsiderate as to build so near somebody else's home.
Will we have to wait long for the next installment? I'm needing some relief here.
Quite an infuriating encounter with the new neighbours or the owner of the silver car huh? I was as boiled as Lizzy too! Now is the visitor at night Darcy? When are the two of them going to meet, i'm so dying for the moment!
Curiouser and curiouser, still no closer to finding out what is going on in the house next door. I fear Lizzy may turn into Tom Hanks in the film the Burbs, sooner or later she will be sneaking around in the fortress trying to find dead bodies. The guy arriving in a non-descript car late at night would certainly make me up the neighbourhood watch antics!
Lisa,
I love the story. I find myself checking the Site b4 I go to work just to see if you posted again. Can't wait to see who's house. I think Darcy & I think her dog Hook runs off each morning to play with Darcy not the workmen!? Any way can't wait to find out.
Oh my, Geri. Let me help you out at least with checking for posts.
I'm planning to post every two weeeks but I won't let myself to post a chapter until the chapter after it is written. I don't know when I posted last, but I think it's about a week away before another is due.
Regarding Hook and Darcy, well everyone needs a friend.
Chewing and spitting, indeed! I'm feeling for Elizabeth.....I'd disown my mother for her total disregard for my concerns. Of all the property she could have sold, it had to be right next to Elizabeth's house. Is this some twisted 21st century matchmaking taking place? If so, Mrs. Bennet's methods are beyond cruel. I haven't even met her yet and I can't stand the woman!
Yes yes, the mysterious Mr Delarango making his appearance! I just wish that he would open his mouth and make a decent conversation with Lizzy though. Will they meet by chance during Lizzy's 6-day tour? Look forward to the next chapter!
Mr.Delarango sounds downright yummy! But all these changes he's making.. hmm, its all so unsettling So, how the H#@* did he get Lizzy's family's rrivate road name changed without her being notified!! (not fair!).
Anyway, here's hoping they at least -talk- to each other soon. That was cute about the mailbox falling over!
I've been reading this story both here and at darcyfic, where I think I commented on ch. 1&2. I enjoy this story greatly, and now that I know you are the same Lisa L. that has written so many other great stories I am very excited to see where this one goes.
Hook sure seems to be taken with Delarango, as does the local populace. I'm pleased with this bend on the tale. Elizabeth seems the only one to dislike him --because he has invaded her personal territory. Good deal!
I love your description of the West Coast in the story. Please continue the good work.
Also, if there is any way you could notify me as to whether any of your previous stories have been published, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Amy. FYI: Lisa's completed story "A Long Road to Happiness" features on this site, as well as her short story "In His Heart, In His Mind". And... in the meantime I've created brand new pages for her sequel to ALRtH called "The Primrose Path to Pemberley".
Hi Lisa! Nice to see you writing again. I just caught up on all three chapters of Mr Popukarity. You really bring the setting alive wioth all your description. Elizabeth certainly is starting from a position of prejudice, though don't blame her at all fopr the way The GHouse has taken over HER space. I like the tension that is building between her and Mr Delarango, but I'm really wondering where the stick woman figures in his life.
Lisa, I was just looking the comments over and realized that I had not left one of my own yet, please forgive me. I have been reading your story from the beginning and you have my curiosity up. I look forward to more, who is this mysterious man? And Lisa, will we be introduced to him anytime soon? Look forward to your next chapter. And Happy New Year to you.
Lisa, I had to laugh in so many places! And... it's instructive too. I'm glad that I prefer red wine to white...
And the comparisons Lizzy makes: in chapter three the name sounds like a cowboy's favorite tobacco for chewin' and spittin' on the range.
...and now like a... no, I won't reveal. Just read and find out!
"Finally, at glimpse of his eyes! They looked beady.."
LOL!!! This story is so much fun. I adore the feisty Elizabeth and am so feeling her pain. How on earth are you ever going to make Rick win our hearts, Lisa?
And, that traitor, Jane! GASP! She invited him to dinner?!? I predict fireworks.
I wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to leave comments about Mr P. I'm very glad that you are enjoying the story, I haven't posted FF in a couple of years, maybe longer. I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year and hope that 2007 is especially good for you.
So
Mr Daerelango, or shall I call him Rick? seems to enjoy a red wine...
Will he teach our proud Elizabeth how to enjoy life soon? She is definitely too tense. It is a good thing old Jane is there to treat Rick to dinner.
Great job! Congrats. Post soon.
Sorry for your confusion G. As Renee said, in this modern adaption the Darcy character is Francisco Ricardo Delarango. Same initials, same misconceptions, same tall, handsome exterior, same -- well, I'll leave it at that so I don't give things away.
Well, I did have a theory that Rick Delarango was Richard, not Darcy. He seems like he'd be a health nut. But you've dashed that theory! Ah, well, anxiously awaiting Ch. 5 :)
Sara
I'm glad I read everyone's comments today. I was thinking that Delarango was Richard also. As Jane said, "He's very convenient." Thanks Lisa and Renee!!!!! Cindy
Just want to reply to the posts about the Colonel. I really do enjoy suprising readers with plot developments but this possibility slipped by me when I was writing. At the end of Ch 2 I have a military man visiting The House as a hint that it might be the Colonel. Of course, readers could take that as a military man visiting another military man! And some did!
Well, it's all on track now. Elizabeth is Elizabeth, Delarango is Darcy, and a new character coming soon Tia Catarina is Aunt Catherine!
I was thinking that the stick lady with the fake boobs was Caroline the interior designer. Does that sound about right?
I'm sure when Lizzy sees his eyes in real life, without the shades, and not in a drawing on a food label, she'll have to admit they ain't beady at all.
I was laughing abouit the confrontation on the deck - lizzy gives him heck for standing and staring at her when that's just what she was doing, and boy, did she let him have it!
