Hello Brenda
This is Nimira. I’m on the ‘We Love Yarmouth’ Facebook group. I absolutely love all your photos.
I’m hoping to come down to visit Yarmouth in a few weeks. I actually came to Yarmouth about 6 months before the pandemic hit, for a personal journey.
My family and I were refugees in 1972. We were the only refugee family sent to Yarmouth at that time. My Mom and Dad have passed on and I wanted to do pilgrimage to find out more about our stay in Yarmouth. It was a very special trip because I found the house we lived in on Brunswick St. I met Dr Kinney who helped us settle in. I met the Mayor Pam Mood whose grandfather was the Mayor when we came as refugees. And I also met Carla, who wrote a story in the Van Guard about my visit. And so many other people who helped me find the missing pieces of what I was searching for.
The reason I’m messaging you was to see if I could tag along on one of your night time photo shoots. Please don’t feel obligated to say yes. I thought I would ask. I am fully vaccinated as well. I would love to see the images you see but through my eyes. Please let me know if that works, and if not, no problem at all.
Nimira

I saw about 5 or so of a type of bird that looked familiar but I couldn\'t place them. I thought maybe they had been seen in my backyard before but not by me. I did find them on your page. They are grosbeaks. I have a wild, very wild rosebush in my back yard so the birds can fly in and out of it (I put bird food under the edges so they can have some cover). Because of this, it\'s hard to tell how many birds there actually are at any time or even what kind they are because as soon as you see one, they might just fly right down into the middle, never to be seen again.....except by luck

Riding the Harvest Moon bike trail and saw many different butterflies, sometimes we
cycled through small clouds of them. Decided to learn some of the names. Your site is very helpful and some of the photos are super sharp. Thank you for this site which I kept on reading after I finished with the butterflies.

I am the Monarch Butterfly Coordinator at the Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute (MTRI) and found your guide for native plants very helpful- the photos were fantastic! We use native species when planting pollinator gardens. MTRI is a non-profit cooperative, and also a registered charity.

I had never seen a hummingbird until I moved to Springhill NovaScotia in July 2012. I lived in Dartmouth my whole live 1955-2012 and did not know hummingbirds came this far north. Now my husband Steve and I wait anxiously for them to come. We have a Magnolia Tree in our front yard where we put our feeder and they migrate to it ever year. Even our grandchildren in Dartmouth can\'t wait to visit to watch the hummers from our front window.

Musquodoboit Harbour

This afternoon a friend and I were driving on the East Petpeswick Road in Musquodoboit Harbour and I spotted a bird in a cove close to the road. It looked like a duck with a reddish coloured head which sort of stuck out at the back of the head. I backed down the road for a better look but my friend spoke and the bird flew off. It flew like a duck so I presume it is a duck of some sort.
