Dear All,

The 40 year old photo circulated by Alex, the Grand Reunion Dinner and the string of e-mails have worked miracles.

Edward has brought up the mountaineering experience. Even up to now, the scenes of- sky turning dark, deep rocky slopes- the 2 metre long rope tied to a stone for anchoring to a crack in the rock to pull one of us up- no turning back -are still vividly in my mind. I was so glad to reach the path on the Peak at the end of the day even though there were bruises all over my legs due to the bushes as I was wearing short trousers during that cold day. For your information, I have never climbed another slope since then. Looking back, it was good fun and experience. Besides Michael and Edward, I remember Louis was also there as well.

I shall count on Alex to get the then younger! scouts together again on the next appropriate occasion.

With my best personal regards,

C. K. Kwong (Jimmy)

Hi Michael,

It really gives me big surprise for your reply. I am more than happy with the effort made by Alex, because I was connected to two brothers whom I have lost for over 40 years in one week. (Very efficient!)

I feel great to recall my memory together, especially the one for Tai Ping Shan. Yes you are right, at that time, we were all little boys who have no knowledge to climb a mountain, but nonetheless with your great leadership, we have finally made this possible. I recall my memory on that day when we sitting on a vertical mountain where we do not know what to do, as the team leader, you have command us to go forward, (of course down hill is even more dangerous.)

This remarkable memories brought me up, whenever I have problems, I recall this memories and ask myself to go forward and never go back. And sure we will find the way of success.

Please kindly let us know your schedule in Hong Kong so Alex and I will gather our team 48HKG for a little reunion, hoping we could enjoy our fellowship together.

Last but not least, your photos is great although everybody is getting a little bit change, but still prove that you are the strongest. (See the muscle in the photo)

I look forward to seeing you soon.

With best regards
Edward Lee

How time flies ! 43 years have gone past. Your emails came as a surprise. Of course, it gave me an unspeakable good feeling that someone from St Joan of Arc School still remembers me. Upon receiving your emails, my memories flashed by vividly. I have not forgotten you. I can recall your faces as though only yesterday; but I presume, we have all changed quite a bit since.

The 5 years in 48th Group were some of the best times of my life. How can I forget my very good friend, my dependable Patrol Second - Edward !! Alex was in Buffalo Patrol who later got promoted to Senior Scout.

The adventure of bringing the Eagle Patrol to climb Tai Ping Shan was a memorable one. To little boys, it was no less hair-raising than The Vertical Limit (The movie link in your email). I don't know if you recall, it all started when I got you lost and the sun was going down. Instead of backtracking down the mountain, we decided to proceed up the thickets and bare slopes.

In difficulties, we stayed united. We persevered in face of seemingly insurmountable challenge. Somehow, for some unknown reasons, Eagle Patrol kind of attracted the youngest of little boys with statures smaller than other patrols. Some of us had our uniforms torn, some were bruised, some had scratches but none complained. Nobody cried. We had only a short rope to assist us. The one climbed higher pulled the one below up while the one under the lower one pushed hard. We got through the ordeal together as a team. Without each other, we most likely would not have made it.

Years have past. I'm sure those small-statured little boys in Eagle Patrol are now just as big as any other. From our teamwork and trust on the mountainside, I hope they came off a little better and bigger at heart than others.

All these years, whenever my teams were in face of difficulties, I always tell them that if we stay together, we will live through it together. Each of us do a little bit more than our fair share and none should assign blames. In failure or success, always appreciate each other's effort. If one gets through, all gets through. If one fails, all fails. We must be very lucky, never had any of my teams not come through with flying colours.

I left St Joan of Arc after finishing Form 1, went to St Paul Boy's College in Bonham Road. After finishing Form 4 there, I went to England to do Form 6, finished my Master Degree in engineering 7 years later and went back to Hong Kong. I worked there for 15 years and then immigrated to Singapore. Here I stayed for 15 years. I am in Civil, Structural, Water, Environmental and Geotechnical Engineering.

From time to time, about once a year, I go back to Hong Kong for holiday. If you would let me have your telephone number, I'll call you up. Let's meet.

Attached herein is a photo of me taken yesterday afternoon. My wife took the picture and that explains why it is what it is.

My kindest regards.

I don't knew him well, but still remembered a timid shy boy escort and introduced to the class by Headmistress " Fat Siu ". Was such a grand entrance, but also made him being isolated for the rest of the term. Life is so fragile. My guess might be heart attack.
Was that Grace sitting next to him ? she got a lot of baby fat then ?

Rene was my P.S. (Patrol Second) in Hounds Patrol when I first joined Scout in F.1 (1964-65). We were in the same class in F1 and 2. I remembered sharing, or rather stealing, his lunch back then. I met him and his wife once in HK about 10 years ago for lunch with Alexander. He was with Panda Hotel at that time. I couldn't find the photo taken together on that day. If anyone have it, please post it.

Teddy
