My friend Johnny Halligan was the LSBA ON Cavalier he was admitted to RNH Plymouth where he was diagnosed haVing lung cancer. He was later operated on and died. I had the privilege of taking over as LSBA on Cavalier for a short while until a relief was drafted on board. I will always remember Johnny and HMS CAVALIER God Bless |

My father, Graham Braund, was on the Cavalier just after the end of WW2. He joined the ship at Rosyth around VJ day, however his name is not on the crew lists from around that date. Also there is a photo of him in uniform wearing a hat with HMS Cavalier on the band. I would welcome any reply to this. Many thanks. |

Just want to tell you I found some of my shipmates' names on HMS Punjabi and HMS Quorn in your site. I was on Punjabi when she was sunk, but had left Quorn long before she went down off France. Would also like you to know that I just received the Ushakov Medal from the Russian government for my service on Punjabi during convoys to Russia. I am told by a former WWII destroyer man (Keppel) in England that your chaps have not received the medal because the government has not yet decided to let them be awarded. All the best to those of your members who served in WWII. |

I joined the Cavalier from Kranji wireless as Fleet pool. JRO/RO3, she was then a new addition to the 8th DS, I was there for about 6 months. I had also previously served on HMS Cheviot. I travelled home, to the UK. with the Crew at the end of the Commission. I recently discovered a copy of that Commission ships Magazine, Obviously i dont get a mention, but if anybody is interested in having this Dogeared battered version, but still readable, Id be delighted to pass it on. It covers the trip from the UK to Singapore. Just EMail me with the details. I have visited the ship on many occasions, the first time when she first arrived in Chatham Dockyard with that awful Paint job. As the shipkeeper said to me when i commented on her colour. "it was the only paint available". Great job now though. |

I just logged on and saw that amazing destroyer memorial. Then I looked at the reverse and saw my ship, HMS Punjabi, which was rammed and sunk in a collison with HMS King George V on May 1, 1942 while covering Convoy PQ15. The memorial reminded me of our Carley Float coming alongside HMS Martin and me grabbing on to netting hung over the side by their crew. Regards to all from Florida. |
