Royal Borough freezes town centre parking charges

The cost to park in some council owned car parks for up to three hours will be frozen from April – to support residents and those visiting the Royal Borough.

This follows the council’s review of charges for council owned car parks, on street parking and permits to give residents and businesses a better deal when parking and accessing local workplaces and retail.

As part of the Royal Borough’s budget for 2025/26, some prices including season tickets will be frozen at town centre locations in Windsor and Maidenhead, as well as in Eton and Datchet, close to key borough locations including the high street, libraries and sport and leisure facilities.

Prices for parking for up to three hours at Hines Meadow MSCP in Maidenhead and Victoria Street MSCP in Windsor are set to be capped for the second year running, while the price of parking at Windsor Leisure Centre will be reduced by over £5 for a four hour stay – encouraging more people to stay active and become healthier as part of the Royal Borough’s new Sport and Leisure Strategy.

Free parking on Sundays and on bank holidays will continue at council-owned carparks in Maidenhead including Braywick Sports Ground.

Cllr Geoff Hill, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport said: “We’re offering residents and visitors the best possible deal when parking for shopping, leisure, work and many more reasons in our borough.

“I’m delighted that as part of our budget, we’ve managed to keep prices for the majority of our car parks and on-street parking at the same level as past years and reduced the price of others – representing a reduction in real terms in what residents and visitors will pay and enabling more people to visit our high streets and other locations for longer.”

Small changes to parking fees have been made for longer stays and elsewhere in the borough, to free up on street parking for those who need it the most during peak hours and provide better value for those who park in bays for a short period of time.

The cost of resident’s permits will stay the same and some business parking permits have also been frozen in Windsor and Eton, as part of the council’s commitment to support local businesses.
