Cookham residents got quite the unwanted Christmas present late in December when an unpopular plan for 200 homes secured planning permission.
Bellway Homes' Cannondown Road plans have left villagers fearing whether the area's sewage infrastructure will be able to cope with an influx of new homes.
This was an issue which particularly hit home at the start of 2024 when Thames Water's Lightlands Lane sewage pumping station was knocked out of action during January's extreme floods.
Cookham Parish councillors met this week and called for Windsor and Maidenhead council to have more involvement in ensuring an adequate sewage system is in place when the homes are built.
