Stanley Spencer Gallery Annual Talk with Rupert Maas - Thursday 3rd April 2025 7pm
"To say Nothing of the Dog - Messing about in boats, in Spencer's boyhood" is Antiques Roadshow art expert Rupert Maas' intriguing talk
Art expert and Antiques Roadshow's Rupert Maas' talk includes reference to Three Men in a Boat (published two years before Spencer was born), The Wind in the Willows (published when Spencer was 17 just before he went to study at the Slade in London), Cookham (Spencer's Village in Heaven) and Messing about in Boats.
The Talk will be highly relevant to the Stanley Spencer Gallery's new Summer Exhibition "A Marvellous Atmosphere: Stanley Spencer and the Cookham Regatta" and the Gallery will have a special early evening opening - until 18.45 - with free admission for those visitors and guests attending Rupert Maas' talk.
